Fascinating. I've never seen swaddled figures like this on a tomb brass. Does the wrapping indicate that all six died in infancy?

To be honest, I am not sure what the swaddling indicates, but that they died in childhood is a definate possibility.

English tombs use all sorts of methods for indicating this. Perhaps if you left a comment on the photo (on the Flickr site), someone might be able to answer. The people interested in these sorts of photos are generally very helpful and knowledgeable.

Thanks for the kind words about my shirt. Once I get a couple of other big projects out of the way, I am thinking of doing another shirt.
